Based on looks I would say Ferrari all the way. The classic 911 profile looks good but it looks best when it's keep clean of boy racer details. Sadly Porsche didn't seem to understand that. Well more realistically my minimalist taste in detailing bear little resemblance to the taste of GT3 buyers. Anyway, while I think the 458 has a few details I would want to be changed (the elongated lights, the Sony boom box dash parts, the lack of a stick shift) overall the car looks both clean, purposeful and exotic all at the same time. It does seem to be something special as compared to the 911 that, just like a Corvette ZR1 suffers for looking like a lesser 911 or even, in my opinion like a Cayman that got fat later in life.
Anyway, my views aren't of real consequence as I'm not in the market for either of these cars and neither really floats my boat (ie if I was to spend $200k on cars neither of these would make it to my garage).
Thanks for posting the videos!

GT3RS more visceral, but as an engineer, I don't think I could live with it with the engine in the "wrong" place. Sure, decades of honing could adjust to the problem with different spring damper settings, roll bars, and wheel and tire sizes, but why not use a design that doesn't need such adjustments? Even in racing series, the Cayman is showing more potential than the GT3's and there's a reason why the halo car the Carrera GT, Group C cars, and Lemans GT1 cars were midengined. I'm not a huge fan of the 458, either. I'd take a MP4-12C over both instantly. Not like I could afford any either, but if that lotto...

I find the 458 to be quit FUGLY. The front, the rear and the interior is not my taste. The side profile though is quite beautiful.
I personally feel that the RS will be MUCH more fun to drive. The 458 will sound better and will give you more attention at the club but it is not going to be as fun to drive.
I just don't like the GHEY graphics on the RS and the childish rear spoiler.

there are many times living in annoying socal that there was a paddle shifter auto option in my s2k and that's one reason the ferrari is excellent. but there is no substitute for working a manual on a sunny day. if only there could somehow be both in one car.
