So it's a high school drop out that works at Jiffy Lube but.....

A. Your girlfriend was dumb enough to take the car to Jiffy Lube

B. You girlfriend is the one driving a Chrysler Concorde

C. You weren't smart enough to teach her NEVER to take her car to places like that

D. All of the above

Survey says????

You hear that a lot about various cars, but I don't buy it.

Realistically, the vast majority of car buyers are going to take their cars to a shop to have the oil changed regardless of how hard the job is. Of the people who'd otherwise change the oil themselves, only some will be deterred by a hard-to-access parts -- let's say 1% of the total ownership base.

The dealer has to charge a flat rate to change your oil in order to stay competitive, regardless of whether the oil filter's easy to reach. Given that, the dealer has an opportunity cost every time they change the oil on a car with a hard-to-reach filter. It would only require a very small amount of additional time before the opportunity cost of the extra unbillable time spent on the 99% of cars that would have come in either way exceeds the extra billable time spent on the 1% that came in specifically because the job was a pain in the ass.

Now, I made up the 99% and 1% numbers, but regardless the math on this conspiracy theory doesn't work out.

My wife had some lug nuts that were tightened by a tire shop with an impact wrench. She got a flat and i couldn't loosen the nuts with the Honda emergency wrench or my AutoZone 4-way.

The dude at the tire shop told me I needed to get a real wrench. "We always have customers call saying they can't get the lug nuts off".

If my wife can't loosen them with the Honda wrench, they're too tight by my standards.

You sound like you need to get laid.

Seriously, a friend tells me he has to remove the front wheel to reach the oil filter on his Civic Si. Does that mean F-Honda too?

And what's a so-called car enthusiast doing @ Jiffy Lube anyway?

Actually got laid 2x yesterday and this morning

I never ever take my car there, it was her dad who had her do it, I couldnt invervene in time to prevent this ordeal.

My car onry goes to SoS!

This is more of a humorous rant for the locker room, lets pleeease not let it go the way of club rsx.

The servicable pieces were just way too tight, I have heard that they do it so you will take it back, but we never did get the drain pan bolt out and I dont understand how the pan was not stripped at that level.

There's a reason we haven't had a shop change the oil in any of our cars in a very long time.
There's also a reason I love how everything is laid out in the S2000 engine bay for routine maintenance.

The S2000 is the very best car I've seen in that regard.
