Man stop lyin. Your response is that of a person who was fully committed in thought and response to the understanding that the car had sold out its heritage. If you had ANY doubt to what he meant you would've made that clear. What you made clear is stated in my second sentence.
If you misunderstood what he said you simply misunderstood. Dont try to come up with some excuse to save what little face you have left.

He was such a prick about insisting that I was a moron being that I was so obviously wrong about the possibility that you could make a mid engine Mustang (which any halfway knowledgeable car enthusiast should be able to wrap his mind around).
He was there arguing the whole way and then suddenly I post a long series of pictures completely proving him wrong and he disappears like ****** Houdini.
He tends to jump in with both feet and a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the belief that he is infallible. At least we got some backpedaling in this thread.

Spectacular, yes. In the spirit of the original? No.
A 250 SWB was a very minimalist car relative to a 599.
599 = more of a luxury grand touring supercar.
Which is fine. But it isn't a minimalist race car for the street in the same sense as the original, or the 288 GTO, or the F40.

You really have to stop using this flat scale of comparing cars across decades and across large performance gaps. If you need a standard, your term "minimal" is the correct standard to apply. They stripped over 400lbs out of the 599 to make the GTO. I'm sure that translates to as raw an experience as just about anyone would want in a street car, masochists not withstanding. The fact that it is heavier than an Elise or a car from over 40 years ago is entirely irrelevant.

Relativity to vintage:
1963 GTO ~2300 lb.
1963 Corvette ~3000 lb.
201x 599 GTO ~3300 lb.
2010 Corvette ~3250 lb.
Apples to oranges? Yes, the original GTO was a minimalist, lightweight racing car. The 599 GTO is a decontented/lighter-weight version of a heavy 2-seat luxury supercar.

Good, b/c you have no right to not like a car that you can't afford.

Sorry, the 599 is butt ugly. Impressive, and but ugly. It looks like a tuner got hold of a Corvette. Ferrari has made so many really beautiful designs....and a few like this or the Testarossa. Not a bad record.
