GM is being said to be extending its employee pricing for everyone sale campaign and news of surging sales. The deal will now run until august 1st.

[Via WSJ] Ford Motor Co. plans to match GM's employee pricing offer with the Ford Family plan, a Ford spokesman said. The plan will be announced later today or early Wednesday.

The deal would offer Ford employee prices on all 2005 Ford and Lincoln-Mercury products, with a few exceptions. Models not included in the plan are the Ford GT, Ford Mustang and the hybrid version of the Ford Escape, a small sport utility vehicle. Mazda vehicles and Ford's European luxury brands also aren't included

Ford's discount offer excludes the Ford Mustang and Ford Escape Hybrid, already selling strongly, as well as Ford trucks larger than the F-350.

In other words, it only applies to stuff not many people really want.
