Then Ferrari will sue, because F430 is its registered trademark.

Meh, why is everyone getting all huffy over this. 1) I don't care 2) is the F150 not Ford's trademark? So don't they have a right to protect it?
What if Ford made a truck specifically for truck racing with a 4.3L engine and named it the F430? I'm sure people here would take issue with that.

But then again, if Ford named it the F-430, is that the same as F430? I'm not convinced it is, so go at it Ford.
Your comparison is a bit apples to oranges
Ford F-150, vs Ferrari F150
and your idea
Ford F430 vs Ferrari F430
See the difference?

Trademarks are not that cut and dry. I can come out tomorrow with a drill and call it the NFR F150. It is NOT a competing product, and Ford will not be able to show any type of profit loss. If Ferrari made a pickup, and called it the F150, fine, case is clear. However, by Ferrari using F150 for their intended purposes, Ford is not affected in any way. Although Ferrari does produce automobiles, they are not in competition with Ford and in the end, Ford will lose.
In the US, contrary to popular belief, you can't "just sue." You have to show some type of loss, and in this case, financial loss, which Ford obviously will not be able to do.

So now cars will have to have complicated letters with numbers so there are enough names to go around? Imagine if electronics part numbers had to follow this.
How did Hyundai make a Genesis car when Sega made a Video Games Console before called that, did God and Jesus sue them both too?

I'm really surprised Ferrari didn't see this one coming. The F150 is only the best selling pickup truck of all time (?). It's not as if Ford is being a trademark squatter here.
Can you imagine if Ford wanted to use one of Ferrari's trademarked names for one of their cars? Talk about shit hitting the fan.

Re: the Genesis, how long has it been since Sega has actually marketed them? Do you think Sega really cares about protecting the copyright on an abandoned product line?
