Default GM price cuts

Now without trying to turn this into a bash GM thread, other manufacturers, at least domestic, matched the GM employee discount so I am curious to see if others think a small scale price war could ensue with perhaps some negative inflation on base sticker prices from several brands.

In the 90's car prices went through the roof very quickly but have had trouble sustaining those prices without huge rebates. Are we going to see average prices come back down to earth a bit?

Well, it's about time they did the right thing!

They should cut more, but they would lose money, considering the overpaid union wages and overly-generous retirement benefit burden.

I saw a comparo with a STS against import sedans like the M45 and the 545i and the Caddi was the most expensive with one option package costing ~$18K

that takes away the price advantage you expect from a domestic. Hopefully this will help GM compete in tests against cars in the same price range.
