GM screws the pooch on this one....

That is a neat feature, for sure! Electric powertrains certainly offer some huge advantages over ICE for that kind of modification.
Broadly speaking, there's no reason you can't do that with an ICE (software upgrade to ECU via wireless signal) - that'd be a neat little option, considering how common a 4G connection is in many vehicles today...

Drove a Model S 100D with Ludicrous mode this week. Pretty nice car. The 2.3 second launch is a neat party trick but not worth the price. The 90 model was already quick enough. Auto pilot is neat and kind of scary letting the car do it's thing. I don't think it's 100% ironed out, the lane changes are kinda jerky etc. The car was a nice place to be overall, the materials, fit and finish is quite a bit nicer than the first Model S's I've been in so they are making improvements.
I'm excited to see the options/config for the model 3.

The other thing I just thought of - Chevy sells two nearly identical vehicles for almost the same price point now between the Bolt and Volt, and their names are almost identical to boot.
It's like GM is trying to make it as confusing as possible for potential customers.

Good time to be a buyer for sure. The Volt, Bolt, and honestly even the Malibu Hybrid are solid cars. Considering a new job that will put me 45 miles each way from where I'm currently living. If I negotiate a little higher pay versus a company truck/gas card, I'll seriously consider a loaded Malibu Hybrid. I have a sales guy I like at my Chevy place and I'll offer to buy one for 30% off. Not kidding and I honestly think they might take it. Then I'll pile my GM card earnings on top of it. Should make it somewhere in the very low 20's. 45mpg average isn't bad for a daily beater that is actually quiet and comfortable to drive.
