Default Help: Car won't start after 2 weeks of idle

Hey guys,

I got my first S about 2 weeks ago and have been driving it around religiously. Unfortunately my other car, has been sitting idle during this time. I don't think it's the battery because it cranks but doesn't catch. I know I need to get new spark plugs since mine are covered in soot. Should I just order and change out my plugs and hope for the best? Or is there anything I can do in the meantime to try to get it started?

Things I've tried:
- Crank it with all electronics off
- Pressing the gas down as I crank it
- ???

I know this is a S2000 forum, but I think this common problem can be solved by more mature gearheads here rather than the folks over at the other place

-Try to jump it with a jumper or another car. If that doesnt work then try this:

-Attatch a multimeter attached to the battery.
Have someone sit in the car and crank it
Watch the multimeter, if it drops 9.6 the battery is more then likely no good.

did you mean you left the car running @ idle for 2 weeks?

How about you start by testing the battery? pressing the gas down will not help at all, in fact it'll probably make the ecu hate you as i'd take a gamble and say the car is Drive By Wire.

Thanks! Jump starting it worked out just fine. It's surprising that leaving a car out for 2 weeks would cause the battery to drain so much. But glad that it was nothing major.

You're right. It's drive by wire so pressing the gas won't help at all.

Thanks guys!
