My gf and I are totally into the Fit, I think we are going to get one this spring (well actually a Fit or a Civic coupe). I was over on the Fit forums and the guys are getting 36mpg around town after a little engine break-in. Our commute is only 12 miles round trip so a little car like this would be perfect. Of course we plan to keep my S and get a Tundra as well so it is the perfect car to add to the fleet...

Do you really need three vehicles* or are you just paying out the ass to save a little at the pump?
*if your plan is to DD something and drive the S on the weekends, and you are going to buy some third car no matter what, ignore this post and enjoy your Fit

$14k give-or-take for a Fit buys a shit-ton of gas.

Same deal with my dad. He has an Avalance 4x4 that gets 13mpg on a good day. He wants to buy a Civic Hybrid or something as a daily beater. That's all well and good, but he's going to spend $20k for that Civic. He should just keep that $20k and put gas in the Avalanche.
Now, I know there is resale value for both the Fit and Civic, but unless you drive A LOT, you're still going to end up in the hole financially because you have to factor in depreciation and maintenance for two vehicles. Not to mention, finding a place to park them, etc.

Reasons why I need (want) 3 vehicles...
S2000 - do I need to elaborate...really?
Fit - for my gf, she wants an economical car
Tundra - to tow our boat and for my real estate business stuff...
I am also considering a new Liberty instead of the Tundra , we have one now and like it, the new one ups the towing capacity which would be cool too...

I liked the fits interior, but in the end, my gf opted for the yaris. It was cheaper and we get 39+ mpg on a regular basis. The fits also had the paddle shift, which i thought was cool.

Liberty? Ack. Talk about 'issues'. They just announced the recall of 800,000+ vehicles due to a steering/front suspension issue.
And, BTW, very nice to see someone from Red Bank. I was born at Fair Haven hospital, grew up in Red Bank/Rumson. Been a while since I've been back..

I had read about 8 months ago of the possibility that the Fit was coming out in a Hybrid version. This was further supported by the discontinuance of the Honda Insight (2006 is the last model year). The thought is that because Honda wants to have the highest MPG mass produced car ... and they will no longer have the Insight to give them those bragging rights, that a Honda Fit hybrid would put them back on top.
In any event, I plan to get one within a couple of years.
