Default Honda kicks butts and takes names

Trucks, SUVs and minivans.

Honda is a small company yet they clean up 2 out of a possible 4 awards. They don't sell a pick-up.

Best large SUV = Pilot
Best minivan = Odyssey

For some reason the MDX wasn't nominated in the luxury SUV category and also no nomination for the small SUV.

So out of 33 vehicles Honda only had 2 entries and cleaned up.

winners :

Small SUV = Forester 2.5XT
Luxury SUV = SRX
Pick-up - F-150

Wonder if anyone is scared of the Honda Pick-em-up for next years test?

Honda makes good vehicles, but it's going to be a LONG time before they're a threat in the full-size pickup market.

Toyota and Nissan have much better chances of eventual success in the full-size truck market.

Honda really doesn't need to pursue this market. Focusing on the current lineup of cars will probably be a better offer than extending to the truck market.

.

BTW, the redesigned Honda 5 spd Automatics have had a few failures in the TL's. There is a recall on certain '04 TL VINs. Its the same tranny that can be found in the Pilot and Oddy.

There's only one problem with that. The Pilot and Odyssey aren't really trucks.
And Honda can only pretend to be in the pickup market with a front-drive V6 platform.

naw i disagree...if Honda wants to be a big player in NA they must build more trucks (V8 please) and SUV's (MDX and Pilots are selling like hotcakes)
which it looks like they are doing in favor of a NSX or S2000 replacement....

The truck category includes pickups, SUVs and vans.

So, it comes to show that you don't really need a lot of power to make a good truck. Sometimes, its the other stuff too. With time, I think the Ridgeline can get some truck awards (maybe in the SUV category? Or, if they come up w/ a new SUT category).

No, sometimes it is a broad enough definition as to allow vehicles that most of us would never consider to be considered.

What I think is telling is that a few years ago Japanese automakers decided they would start building trucks, and this year, 3 of the top 5 trucks are Japanese.
