how much would it cost to put custom V8 in S2000?
I have seen lots of 914's, someone mentioned RX7's, 240Z's, etc........
Who would I approach about a small block 350 or Ford 302 or something into an S2000?
Just curious what kind of $ it would take.
If the weight only went up to 2800lbs....with 350hp and 350lb ft of torque, it could be worth it.
and the sound.......oooohhhhhhhhhhh......

If you can get an LS1 into the Rx-7, I figure someone could get the LS7 into the S2000. Who's going to be first. .

Ask Alex... HAHAH

There's simply no good reason to do it. The RX-7 has a wonderful chassis and a crappy engine (runs hot, unreliable, temperamental, self-grenading, expensive to replace, etc.), so it makes sense to replace it with a more powerful, reliable, and lighter (yes, lighter) LS1 engine to the point that there's a market big enough for a V8 bolt-on kit to be avaiable. The S2K already comes with a bulletproof, lightweight, high-revving engine in it . Add to the fact that most S2000's are still too new to be butchered, many even still under warranty, (the newest RX-7's are a decade old) and you won't find too many people willing to do it.
Not saying it can't be done... just why it hasn't been done.

go buy a miata and go build the monster miata piece of sh#$, how dare you even think of that fate for the s2000. Yeah lets throw a heavy piece of sh@! into the front end of the s2k so that it can handle like the nose heavy dodge viper=great idea!!!!!

I could do it for around 12-15K depending on what I could get the parts for and how modern you want engine wise.
Anybody can butcher a car and stick a carb'd 350 with a auto into a S2000 but if you want FI/LS1-2/ + 6 speed it would be difficult but not impossible. You would need to do something with the rear end to get everything to fit and it would have to be drastic cuts.

Ask Alex.
If its too big, how about the supra's JZ straight six? Hoods long enough. Granted it won't be a front mid engine anymore, I'm sure the handling won't be too bad. WOn't be as good as the engineers envisioned, but if done properly, it should be cool. Think about it...the original 240z had it too. Supra, BMW etc have them and their handling isn't too shabby. Not razor sharp, but good enough for most folks.
Jay Leno stuck a modern corvette motor in his classic...is that sacrilegous? ...ignorant people.

It would cost probably close to $15-20K if done right. Just the 911 V8 conversion which are already bolt on cost $10K.
1) 500hp Fuel injected V8
2) New 6-speed trans
3)custom drive shaft
4)custom rear end
5)Beefer suspension
plus all the labor cost and dash electronics
But it would be one very fast frankenstein monster.
I may get around to this after I finish putting the V8 in the back of the MR2 spyder.
