Default How to you purchase your cars out of state?

So I've been wanting to go out of my state to purchase a car. Without bringing a suitcase of cash handcuffed to my wrist to purchase a car, how or what is the best way you all buy cars?

I want to pay straight up cash for the car but don't really trust lugging the cash around.

Suggestions?

There are a couple of different ways to do this. It really depends on who you are buying from. Is it a dealership or an individual?

The easiest way is just to have your bank wire it to their account. It takes a day or two but it is completely transparent so no one is skeptical about getting a check from you or anything like that.

If you plan on actually going to see the car as opposed to having it shipped to you, if it's a dealership just put a deposit with your credit card and then then bring them a check. If it's an individual just bring them a cashier's check.

I did this exact thing.

Bought my S via an Ebay auction from a dealer. Called within 24 hours to secure the purchase with a CC ($1000). Then wired them the balance (just popped into my bank and it was all handled via a CSR).

I actually had intended on sending them a cashiers check, but the transport showed up two days early and I did the wire same day.

I vote for the suitcase full of cash handcuffed to your wrist.

Hahaha, one time I'd actually like to do that. Playing one ticket on the PB tonight, if it hits, I'll definitely be headed down to F-car of Orlando and I'll try the briefcase

It's more impressive if you have your assistant walk in with you with the briefcase handcuffed to his wrist. True ballers don't carry money; they have others carry their money.

For my car, I flew in, checked out the car, then drove to my bank with the seller and had him watch my bank cut him a certified check.

So what banks do you all use?

I'm with the USAA and they don't really have a brick and mortar bank I could exactly just use.

You can request a cashiers check online and even have it mailed directly to the seller, though you'd probably want it in hand if you're going to pick the car up yourself.

FTR, I bought my car from Chicago and had it shipped down here to Florida, paid via a wire (see above) using B of A.

First time I've ever purchased a used car site unseen, but since it was a dealer and they provided all sorts of additional details as needed, I was pretty confident it would work out (plus the car still had/has factory warranty).

I sold my Z06 to a guy in AL, he bought it without an "on site" inspection (just lots of good pics), but I had been a member on the Vette Forum for like 10 years, so I was a pretty well known source. He FedEx'ed me a cashiers check and I sent him the title/etc., after the financial element was resolved. We also drafted up a contract of sorts with some language defining the deal, condition, lack of warranty, etc.
