You might regret it, the M3 has so much torque on tap instantly everywhere. You'll miss being able to leave it in 5th going 70+ and just blow by people without downshifting. The top end for the S is better than the M3 but the lack of torque means they're almost dead even as far as acceleration.

The M3 has better steering feel, much more responsive and not as numb as the S but the S has a much faster turn in which makes the car feel considerably more nimble. Also the M3 is leaps and bounds above in comfort/cabin noise/ammenities, you'll miss the OBC and stuff like that.

Other than that the S2000 is great, don't let the trunk size discourage you when I first saw it I thought what the hell you can't fit anything but I've had no problems fitting all the groceries I could buy plus some other stuff as well as any stuff needed for an autocross or track day (except tires).

I think you'll enjoy the S, but it's a LOT different from the M3. They're both great in their own way.

PS technoviolet is one of my favorite E36 colors, I couldn't find one so I was stuck with a Cosmos/black but at least it was a M3/4 and a 5spd non lux.

Since both the E36 and E46 are now officially the older more box looking models I would trade either one. You wont regret it..

If you want luxury then keep your E36/E46 models. If you want a go-cart and a fun car to drive then get the S2000.

I agree, that's why I have changed almost every suspension aspect of my E46 M3.

And I think JSAp1 must be blind, the E46 isn't boxy at all the whole car is round with wide fender flares. I guess he likes his cars with a blunt flat nose just like his women.

Me blind? Dude you just proved my point . That car is as box as a Jetta. Get a clue, seriously. Go take a look at what Dut had to do to get the car to look modern then come back and talk to us..Then he got rid of it. Your assuming again. Its funny you say I have an 80s car like your implying its cheap . When I had my S2000 with all its mods I could have paid for 2 E46s cash or 4 RX8 family sedans . Big fricken deal.

Cars are just cars. Material. They dont mean shit but you obviously get all riled up over honest to god opinions/observations.. Ohh well you will grow up one day young one.

Are you willing to give up the space you have now with your E36? Most folks get rid of their S cause they need more room.

I wouldn't have considered the S2k if I couldn't give up luxury and practicality of it. It's just that I've owned nothing but BMWs, 5 to be specific. So this is a big change for me.

I also can't help but think about how many other cars I can get for the same price. They're pricey!

hey are you selling the intake on the car? i also need steering wheel w/airbag if available. can you link me to ur for sale thread?

and i'd take the m3 e46 over the s2000 anyday if it were going to be my only car just because of the functionality and face it, the m3 is a better car (of course it costs more as well).

thanks!

I was also wondering why we are talking about parting out a M3 in S2000 talk?

Well, since you asked, keep the M3.

I thought it would stay more on the "tell me about the S2000" topic, but......oh well.....off to Car Talk.
