For those that don't know...
"The HS30-H Nissan Fairlady 240ZG was released in Japan in October 1971 to homologate the 240Z for Group 4 racing. Differences between the 240ZG and an export market Datsun 240Z include an extended fiberglass ‘aero-dyna’ nose, wider over-fenders riveted to the body, a rear spoiler, acrylic glass headlight covers and fender mounted rear view mirrors. The 240ZG was available in three colours: Grande Prix Red, Grande Prix White and Grande Prix Maroon. The “G” in 240ZG stands for “Grande.” Although the ZG was never sold outside Japan, in order for it to be eligible for competition in the U.S., Nissan sold the nose kit as a dealer’s option which is known as the “G-nose”."
Its a look I've lusted after for years. The car will be getting repainted - most likely GPW - and for those that don't know, the flares should alwars be colormatched to the front bumper. This car with Work Equip 01s.

The ZG flares, being the bolt-on variety and not blended in, look better in the steelgrey color. Body color makes them look chintzy and not as "correct".
As a long-time Z owner and enthusiast, my opinion is that rnye is on the right track
From a pure functionality viewpoint, you can leave off the flares and still easily fit 245's in the wheelwells with coilovers and/or fender rolling, so flares aren't strictly functionally necessary for even a pretty serious track car.
G-nose reduces aero drag and front end lift dramatically, so it's a fully functional and worthwhile mod.

Just got home from an 80mi trip. Runs like a raped ape - at 7psi I was pulling on my S2K (driven by my friend). Good to be back in a boosted Z!
Will post more pics/info/etc. soon!!
Now to wipe this stupid grin off my face.

BEAUTIFUL CAR, ryne!
You're very lucky to find a prestine condition Z like that.
I personally love the look of the ZG fenders myself. Go for it!
Keep us updated with the progress.
Enjoy!
