I still have the car and it's great. It has a crappy old Flyin Miata turbo kit. At 9 lbs of boost it makes 180 whp which doesn't sound like a lot but it is pretty damn fast. I raced my buddy's Ford Lightning and without even launching the car I was able to pull on him. He runs mid 13's. I raced another friend's E46 M3 and pulled on him until about 70 mph when he started reeling me in and we stopped racing.
The last time I went to a road course I had a Pontiac G8 try to pass me on the straight and I left him pretty easily. My steering mistake allowed him to get right next to me. By the end of the straight I was about 4-5 cars or more in front of him and the gap was growing, but I pulled right and let him pass me as he looked as if he had no intention of slowing and I was going to have to turn left, directly into his path. It's fairly quick but I'm not tearing up Z06s or anything. LOL.
If I were to start from scratch (which I may very well start over this summer) I would not have bought this turbo kit (I would have gone custom) but I would definitely go with a turbo.
The guys at Track Dog racing have some quick supercharged Miatas and they swear by it, but the rest of the world leans toward the turbo option. I have never seen a supercharger kit that isn't kind of hokey.

i have been on the site and reading some thing on the net they seem to be pretty good.
I think this is going to be a fun little project for me. Its cheap and if i go balls out it wont have more then 7gs total in it.

The current Flyin Miata is pretty good. Mine is one or more generations old and it is basically the equivalent of what you would buy for a Honda Civic in 1998. It comes with a very basic cast manifold, super small intercooler, crappy intercooler pipes, etc.
It works and is mostly reliable, but the new Flyin Miata stuff is waaaaaay better than the kit I have. There was a lot of stuff with this kit that wasn't really well thought out. For instance, the factory oil pressure sending unit bolts to the passenger side of the block. The kit came with an aluminum T fitting that plugs into the block and allows for a line to go from the T to the turbo and then the sending unit attaches to the T. So basically the heavy sending unit hangs off of the T fitting which is not made to support that kind of a load. I'm driving and all of a sudden my factory oil pressure gauge goes dead. I investigate and the weight of the oil pressure sending unit had broken the T fitting in half. There is a bunch of stuff like that that makes my kit kind of crappy in my opinion.
I wasn't taking issue with Flyin Miata, just the version that I have. I have quite a few Flyin Miata products and I have bought many things from them. They are a great company. My only real issue is that I think that they are kind of pricey, but they provide great service.
