The Lightning Lap, 2009
My opinions/observations:
1.) What the hell is up with that 370Z Nismo? The Camaro SS put a nice beating on it.
2.) Shocked that there isnt much of a diff between the Cayman S and 911 S besides 65hp!
3.) BMW M3 doing exactly what its suppose to do, hang out with Porsches.
4.) ZR-1? Once again I'm speechless.

I'm amazed the ZR1 beat the KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom, not forgetting the Lambo and every other car out there!
There were some very fast times posted in LL3, LL5, and LLU; however, nothing topped the 2008 performances of the Mosler MT900S and the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. But those are hardly everyday drivers, whereas the 2009 champ is a civilized daily ride. As ever, there were some memorable surprises in the machinery.

Thanks for the link - interesting article.
Looks like the Corvette Grand Sport is a helluva bang for the buck!
Seeing the M3's performance validated my opinion that it's hard to beat as an all-rounder. Seeing it beat the Porsches was icing on the cake!
WTF is up w/ the 370? For all the talk about benchmarking against the Cayman S, it fell woefully short. Seems like the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a closer threat
I would have liked to have seen an MX-5 in the mix. Although the OEM suspension calibration and tires still leave a bit to be desired, the '09+ is improved, and the light weight + great brakes go a long way in making up for a relative lack of hp.

i'm surprised they didn't run the new acr. the old one was the still the fastest. On a fast track like this i think the revised gear ratios could help a lot.

crazy. The Grand Sport Corvette beat everything but the Lambo and Ariel. And of course the ZR1.
Oh yeah, but the interior sucks, I keep forgetting that ever-important detail lol
IMHO, the 370Z is an impressive V6 sports car. But it's still only a V6 sports car, as has been said. No less impressive just because it got beat. Consider the company that made the Camaro and what else it makes on that list and where those cars place. The Camaro is heavy, but you'd have to be an idiot fanboi to think it was slow. Especially now.

The Grand Sport is a great car imo - it would be great to pick one up used but in good shape

Interesting. I wonder if conditions were faster this year than last. The reason why I ask is the ZR1 soundly beat the GT-R's time but the two times were recorded on different days. Is the difference because the Corvette is faster on this track or because the GT-R's time was from a day when the track was slower.
Yes, I'm fueling the GT-R flames
The Nissan seems to be the real disappointment. Slow lap times... and really really bad brakes.
