I'd have towed mine down on a UHaul car trailer if I didn't have to bring my travel trailer as well. The "dude with the pickup" and car trailer did just fine and was on my schedule. Time and schedules prevented me from using the exotic car haulers.

Chuck,

I might go with Montway (booking 1-2 weeks out) because the BigBoys (Rialiable and Intercity) are booking 8 weeks out ! crazy

and I'm worried about storing my new baby in some wharehouse I think Montway might be the better choice

I understand Montway bids their smaller jobs out , I'll try to do my due deligence on the driver and vehicle used if possible

It all worked out directly with the driver. The move was done in about 30 hours total. I'd previously rejected several other "offers" that couldn't meet my schedule. After my car was dropped the driver was headed a couple of hours down to North Carolina for a load of custom furniture to bring back to Columbus, Ohio. He was a retired over the road truck driver who did this for a week or ten days every month when he could get loads both directions.

All Montway does is broker/bid the job. There's some oversight on their part but the driver is in business for himself.

Give Horseless Carriage Transport a try, competitive pricing and have always delivered my cars unscathed. With the big car auction companies using most of the available rigs now I'd wait a week or two and try to get a faster delivery.

+1 for Horseless carriage. I shipped two cars from AZ to PA two years ago. Great experience.

thanks Vanishing,

this forum is awesome !! thanks everyone, super helpful

Its a busy time of year, like you said the auto companies have the transporters occupied right now

Horseless Carriage is about 3 weeks out for scheduling... $2500 from Chicago to San Francisco ...

Horseless Carriage sound like a first-rate service

I used intercity and couldn’t have been happier. Driver was super professional and the enclosed trailer was top notch!
