Reliable Carriers is a well respected transporter. I'd suggest calling your local high end dealers like Ferrari, Rolls Royce and see who they recommend.

Where and when you want to go can get complicated as I found out in 2016 when moving my S2000 from Cleveland to Richmond. Long distance transport by dedicated car carriers like Reliable with their special built long distanced trucks and trailers is dependent on their schedule, not yours. Moving across the country with a 7-car capacity trailer they will want it to be full if possible. Firms like Montway are brokers with a variety of trailers based on independent haulers and what trailers they have. Their schedules may be more flexible.

What was the Reliable quote and for how many miles?

Where is the to and from? What kind of car is it?

I have shipped 4-5 cars both enclosed and open. Make sure the battery is up to snuff before it's shipped. It may be better to ship open to save money and use the savings on PDR if something did happen. Some routes are less expensive even though the distance is greater. I live down the road from an Adesa car auction site, so everything to my neighborhood is very reasonable.

Prices are in line with my 500 mile transport 18 months ago. The Montway quote can and probably will vary as they're a broker and the price varied daily it seemed when I was looking. My Montway move was an independent retired long distance truck driver with a F250 (350?) and an enclosed car trailer. Door to door. Montway got a booking deposit and I paid the driver cash (greenbacks) when he delivered the car. Snug fit. Note the roof is down. (Only photo I can find.)

Granted it's a few years ago now, but I used a broker and paid $900 for enclosed transport from Portland OR to southern Michigan. Mine was through an outfit called Carmoza. No clue if they're still around or not, but I had zero issues with them.

Enclosed as in a proper auto carrier rig, not some dude with a pickup truck and a trailer.
