Default Lusting for an E46...

I've always been a huge fan of the E46, and I occasionally get the bug to get myself a coupe.

I love the aesthetics of the 6 speed w/ comp package.... but some of these clowns are asking 40K+ for low mileage examples. (Um, I'll just go buy a slightly used 335 for that kinda cake...)

Am I crazy to seriously be thinking about such a thing?

You obviously are not a huge fan of the "M".

To justify getting a 335 and think you are getting the same heritage and performance is fooling yourself.

Your comparing the E46 M with the E90 335.... The E46 is the flagship for that generation model... the 335 is not. The E92 M3 is.

Sounds to me, you don't know what you want. If you did, you wouldn't be even looking in the direction of the E90 series. If it's a bargain your shopping for, then look else where.

Pay the cost to be the boss.

You should look harder for an E46 the values have tanked. There are many "proud" owners asking big $$$ but the majority are selling cheap. I saw an 02 vert at LM in Chicago in the low 20's just 2 weeks ago.

First of all he never mentioned anything about the "M", however let's stay here for a second.

You can't possibly be serious with your first two mini-para's. What kind of heritage is one getting by going with the "M", over a 335, other than the badge?

are you serious? have you driven both cars? you cannot say that you can compare an e92 335 to an e46 m3 and say what's the difference other than a badge. Not every aspect of an automobile relies on 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Even though the e46 is slower and outdated and lacks the technologies found in the e92, it exudes a sheer driving experience, soul, passion, heritage, presence, etc that the e92 has no idea about. Yes, the e92 is an amazing car but drive even an e30 m3 from back in the days and u'll know what i'm talking about. That car is simply amazing.

Quit playing devils advocate and wake the F'up..... who "Lusts" over a standard 3 series E46? Get real and quit being an smart ass.

If your telling me that you think he's talking about lusting over a standard 3 series with "Comp Package" then you entire post is dismissed.

The OP is making pricing and bargain comparisons across two different series models in the E46 and the E90. I'm saying why make comparisons to other models to justify a deal or bargain on the car you supposedly "lust" over? I'm simply stating he doesn't know what he wants... and that you don't know what you're talking about.

You're dismissed....

Whoops. I inadvertently leave the characters "M" and "3" from the title of my post and look what happen.

I should have been more clear. After all, you wouldn't know that my feelings about non-M E46 BMWs are ambivalent, at best. I like the styling and "M factor" of the E46 M3 more than any non-M E90, but I am not prepared to haggle for an 05 CPO E46M seeking the same money as an 07 CPO 335 (with fewer miles). I am not shopping the E90, but merely making a point that it seems strange to me that the faster, more technologically advanced vehicle could actually be less expensive than the one I actually want.

M heritage is great and all, and I would buy a good E30 M if I could find one, but I specifically lust after the 05+ E46 M3.

And I am not seeking bargains so much as guidance on whether I am crazy to be lusting after an E46 M3. Seems like it would be a better daily driver than my 99 Volvo wagon.

The E90 335 is a great car. It's speed is almost identical to the E46M. However keep in mind that the two cars although close in straight line speed, their similarity ends there for reason you already know.

Although the E92 M is already out the E46 M is still a technological work of art.

If it's the E46 M you lust for, just be patient for another year and the price should come down to where you want. If your heart is not set in stone on the comp package, then consider the 03 - 04 E46 M which can be bought in the 30K range with lots of choices.

FWIW, the "Volvo" on another thread is listed as a "gay" car... lol.... j/k.

All of that bullshit, thinking you're a teach, and still nothing but pompanese.

Like I said douchebag, what is this gay ass "heritage and performance" you're spewing about? A whole 33hp and a badge?
