Mods wont increase the value of your car... Make the price very reasonable and you will get biters..
My STi sold in less than 24 hours on Autotrader. I listed it at a decent price and it sold very quick... in the period that the paper has been procesing I've had another 10 callers wanting to see the car. I finally took it off last night after the new owner signed his loan papers...
The KBB value on the car was 23k and I sold it for 24,500... some minor mods and clever talking did the trick.

So my dad has been trying to sell his beautiful M roadster for the last two months and he hasn't gotten a single caller. What's going on? Is there any reason the market is so poor? His car is absolutely perfect and yet we can't seem to find a single interested buyer.

I also agree with everyone about the write up. You're not going to convince me that the car was "never raced" when you're advertising "very fast", Dinan chip, CAI, and other mods.

Kelly Blue Book for private party is around $21k and trade in $18.5k. So priced about 20-25% too high. Aftermarket mods really are worth nothing to the price of a used car. While the parts add to performance, they detract from longevity of the car typically. So at best a wash for the add-ons.
That's why this board has such a large posting of used parts. When people sell their cars they sell their parts and the car separately. Then you get maybe 50-75% of the cost back for the parts and can sell the car as being pampered on the highway and someone might actually believe you.
Also, although the new Z4 is pretty ugly to me, it is the new style for BMW. Usually that will detract from the value of previous body styles.

always when a car is priced to high it does not sell...sorry.
in researching M roadsters when my friend was selling his in Sacramento, Ca...i came accross the fact that they had a wopping hp increase the next year...which makes this year a lame duck in terms of value. a used bmw, not hard to sell...but i expect the market does not bare that price.
looks like a nice car and well cared for...the marketplace is loaded with roadsters which is also a problem...and for 23,000 you can buy new or even newer, although not bmw.

Yep, too much cash.
For $26k, you could buy a 1yr old S2000 with 10k miles.
The people who really desire the snob appeal of a BMW, wouldn't want the last generation model... they might opt for a used Z4 (can get a 2003 with 30k miles that's still under warranty for $26k).
And those wanting FAST would choose from any number of other cars (CLK55amg for example in reference to another post).
So he's stuck with a car that really isn't VERY FAST, that is easily identified as "last generation styling." It'll be hard to get more than $22k for it, IMHO.
To put it in perspective: There are 280 Porsche Boxsters on cars.com for less than $25,000. If I was strapped for cash, wanted a fun, mildly quick roadster with some cachet... I'd buy a Boxster for $20,000.
Of course, I'd rather have some reliability, a 9k redline, and screw the cachet... but you know what I drive....
