Makes me sad. I frown everytime I see their now models when I drive by the Honda dealer.

That strong line coming down the side (I don't know what to call it) is VERY reminiscent of the s2000. It's actually one of, if not my favorite detail of the s2000's design. I can't say if they would actually take inspiration from the s2000 or not, but it does look very much like an AP1 with AP2 wheels from that angle.

I can see the resemblance but the Maser lacks the S2K wedge shape with the pronounced drop in height from rear deck lid to front bumper. Also, it's a bigger package all around.

Well, I think the S2000 has about as much in common with a regular Honda as the Maserati does, so...

A good design is good design. It's not like anyone is saying they built the AP3 - the car has an extra row of seats and likely very different dimensions. Design features are design features - Maserati certainly isn't the first company to use 9-spoke wheels. I'm willing to bet they look much less similar from different angles or side-by-side. However, the picture makes it appear very reminiscent of the AP1 to those who are familiar with the car. No one but enthusiasts would make this kind of connection - others can rarely differentiate the s2000 from the Miata.

When I first saw this it reminded me a lot of a picture I took of my car when I first got it:

I see a ton of resemblance. Obviously there are some differences, but an overwhelming amount of similarities also.
