I just got my April copy of Road & Track. The cover story is on the new RX8. They call it "the prettiest car to have come out of Japan"; However, they ignore the fact that it's styling is quite derivative of the S2000. They state that it looks like a Ferrari or Maserati. It looks like an S2000 to me! You be the judge: http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_...ts/5_10_maz.htm

One of my friends, who owns a couple of RX-7s (among other things) just got a little demo CD-ROM from Mazda that's pretty cool. It's a small CD and it's shaped similarly to the rotor inside the motor. We took a look at it this morning, looks pretty interesting but I'll have to see one in person because the pictures I've seen don't really do anything for me.

No seriously, though, the RX-8, like all RX series cars is powered by a rotary engine. It is a fundamentally different design than a piston driven engine, and is very cool, can rev far higher than a piston-based engine, and is very lightweight for its power output. Go to www.howstuffworks.com to get an indepth lesson on the wobbly rotary.
