The Rx-8 looks like an S2k nose welded to an Avanti rear! Yuck! I like the nose 
but I never could get used to the Avanti, Jensen Interceptor, or Maserati Mistral style.
The most beautiful car to ever come from Japan was the RX-7tt...it broke away from the go-bot anime styling that the Japanese are still using today (ie Celica).

I also think the RX-7 TT is the most BEAUTIFUL car to come out of Japan...The RX-8 looks too much like other cars to really be called BEAUTIFUL on its own. It has styling cues from the S2000 and TT and etc. The RX-7 is in a world of its own...LOVELY CAR!!!

But seriously, those rotory engines are pretty damn cool.
I have to admit, the styling is an improvement for Mazda. But the guy went a little too far writing about how it looked like an exotic Italian car..
It has some S2000 hints, but its unique enough to be its own car.
I like how the rear seats are tucked in the back like that. More than two seats can be quite useful at times.
Too bad its not a convertible :/

what would make the Rx8 sweeter is if Mazda added a turbo charger. I love the fact that it has a 9k redline also. 
i think Honda is going to come out and break the 10k redline barrier soon for a production car

Below is a brief history of Felix Wankel, the inventor of the rotary engine. I found the translation from German to be quite funny.
Felix Wankel became on 13 August 1902 in Lahr born and died an 9 October 1988 in Lindau. It was engineer and developed the Wankel trick motor. This dIFFERED through the presence of a circling trick cylinder in the form of a crooked equilateral triangle. The advantages in the machine existed in lightness, few mobile parts, compactness, slight beginning costs and high achievement. 1954 developed Wankel the first trick piston motor that was produced and developed by Mazda. Later it became director of its characteristic research equipment in Lindau.
