If you need more trunk space with the third row up, I'd look at a minivan (shiver) or a full size SUV like a Suburban.
one of my favorite looking suvs but are they reliable yet?

OP, do you get any snow where you're at, might want to consider that as well. If it's a third car you'll want it to work in EVERY situation. I like the MDX or Pilot but never driven either.

I'd say that overall yes they are reliable. I ended up buying a Citadel after researching the market and I've racked up 50k+ mi so far with no big issues - two burned out brake light bulbs, and I think one of my HID bulbs is going, and there is an outstanding TPIM recall that I haven't gotten done yet because it is not an active problem for my truck. That said, I did buy a lifetime warranty as it is the first American vehicle I ever purchased, but I haven't needed it yet.

I think out of all the mini vans on the market, the only one I could own is the Ford Transit Connect. It has european styling, and it's supposed to actually be kind of fun to drive.

^Car and Driver actually did a fullsized van comparo last month and the Ford van won. However they ravved about the Mercedes Benz Sprinter's steering feel. Said it was better than just about any other car sold with the 3 pointed star on it, lol.

We have a Transit Connect as a service vehicle at work, it's a POS. No way I'd recommend one to anyone.

i would never drive a minivan. I really like the Durango, Grand Cherokee or the MDX. I'd choose between those 2 depending on the space i needed.

I should have driven a new Durango hemi before I bought the MDX but didn't. I want to check one out possibly for a next suv. Seems like they have a little more space and can get some extra features for the same money as the MDX.

Hard to beat the Durango in the looks department. They sure styled it quite well
