Moving from NYC to Germany
Hello S2ki. It's been awhile. Anyway, I'm moving from NYC to Germany for work.
Where online can I search for used cars in Germany?
Are German cars generally cheaper there? I'm thinking about buying an E86 Z4M Coupe. I'm sure I can buy something like a 3 Series for cheap compared to US prices, but I really want to buy something nicer. Am I going to be getting a deal or are prices similar for nicer cars?
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat (well different but similar). I'm moving to Austria in a few months with my girlfriend and getting a car is one of our first priorities. A few things I've noticed:
1. Cars are expensive!!! We are looking on the other side of the scale at "cheap" cars and stuff that would sell here for $1500 goes over there for 2-2500 euro.
2. Gas is even more expensive. In her home town it equaled out to roughly $8.45 a gallon.
3. The government/police are strict about vehicle upkeep (again this is for Austria, but I think it carries over into Germany too). She mentioned that your car won't pass inspection and/or you can get a ticket if your tires are past the wear bars. Crazy stuff.
We looked at this site http://www.mobile.de/?lang=en (she showed it to me so I guess it's good) at some cars for sale. Hope this helps!

I have been in Germany for close to two years. I just made a trip up to the UK to buy my car. Cars up there are dirt cheap. I bought an AP1 with about 80,000 miles for $7,000. It's in great shape too, never had an issue. The only issue is RHD, but I prefer it.

This is what I was thinking to do as well - buy in the UK.
