Muscly/sports coupe for 4k-7k$
#21
Regarding F-bodies, I owned a '95 LT1 6-speed, and I've tracked my buddy's '01 LS1 6-speed, and I hafta say that while I like the cars and they've never given either of us an ounce of trouble, I would sooner go with an E36 328i for a more muscley car in the price range indicated.
V8 sound is cool, power and torque aplenty, and I *love* the styling (particularly of the '93 - '97s), but the overall driving experience is sorta like driving a more-stiffly-suspended 2-door Caprice coupe. On the street and at the track.

Both of these cars fail the original poster's "can't be super expensive to fix" criterion badly -- the XR4Ti because parts are hard to find, and the 944 Turbo because a lot of normally routine jobs take a lot more labor time than for other cars.
Add me to the list of people suggesting a Camaro or a Mustang. Cheap, easy to fix, parts available everywhere.

2nd gen MR2 Turbo. Not quite the opposite... but still a lot of fun for the price and pretty nice to look at.
I'd prefer both of those over the MR2 turbo (not a fan of the styling and dont particularly care for a light car)

I would save a little more and get a higher miles 04 GTO
Mind blowing power. 400 hp and 400 lb-ft.

C4 Corvettes have a pretty solid drivetrain, handle decently (earlier models handled outstanding, but really sacrificed ride quality) and aren't bad looking.
The interior is what you would except from an 15-20 year old car, though funny enough, the premium seats were better than anything offered in the C5.
The LT1 is fun, plenty of low end. I did some AFR heads and a GM HOT cam in my '95 and it put down 330-340 rwhp.
