My next sports car will be a ...
Assuming you have a sports car now (cough, S2000, cough), what kind of future sports car do you envision? Will you get another convertible? A coupe? Something in between?

Boxster or 911 Cab, it depends on the stock market, but maybe another Corvette. I had this discussion today with my buddy about how I'd prefer to drive a Miata with the top down than a hardtop supercar. Somedays if it is raining and I can't put the roof down, I just won't even leave my house.

Hard to say. I'll probably buy a beater for the winter, starting next year, so my next sports car can be a convertible (even if no hardtop is available) or a fixed roof. I have an S2000 right now, with hardtop, so it can do all-year duty as a daily driver. The winters are tough here so it's nice to have a convertible in the summer. You just enjoy the weather so much more. That puts a Boxster S very high on my shopping list.
A Cayman S is very high on my list as well, purely for the low weight, good looks and excellent driving experience. A C6 Z06 is very high as well, mainly because it's a beast, I trust its mechanicals and it's a great looking car. A 911S (997, probably) is still a bit of a long shot for me, primarily due to price and age (I'd be buying a 4-yr old one, probably). An M3 is also a bit of a long shot, since I like lighter cars. So, four out of five are hardtops but as someone else said, I think that's because of what's out there. There are very few compelling convertibles (moderately lightweight, agile, moderately expensive) out there. SLK? Meh. BMW Z? Same meh (looks great, though). A convertible Vette just doesn't look that great to me and so that leaves a Boxster S or else a fixed roof coupe.
I wouldn't mind supercharging my S2000 and holding onto it for quite a while. Mine has low miles (just crossed 10K miles), is in great shape and has all the right options (OEM hardtop, especially) to make it worth holding onto. I don't see me jumping ship very quickly unless some of my investments mature sooner than expected.

For me it will be me and my CR hopefully until I die. I would love to have a 997.2 991 GT3 in the future. I will go Porsche next, probably air cooled first though.

Before the S I would have said a coupe but after seeing life witht he top down it would be a hard choice. Really depends on what is released in the next 5-10 years. Right now there is nothing I can see that would be a good buy for a similar used price to the S. Something like an M3 convertable or an AMG convertable would be a blast but those have the cost of maintence as an issue. The BRZ is boring until the chop the top and turbo it. Viper convertable would be fun.
