Need some insight please
Need some advice, I recently moved up to the great smokey mountains and am in search of a new car. I need something that will be able to handle winter weather and be able to carry a snowboard/kayak. My price range is around 14-15k and it needs to have pretty low miles. I am looking for something that is pretty quick and nice looking. I have been looking at some newer wrx's but cant find any with the miles I am looking for in the right price range.
I really do not want to get rid of my current car and feel like whatever I get will be a downgrade but can you guys give me any advice?
Also have thought about evo's and volvo s60Rs.
Thanks guys!

Must it be a newer WRX? Evo's will 100k miles go for 15k. You're willing to buy a ~9 year old Evo, but not a ~9 year old WRX/STi?
When I think of Evo's I think of them being a tuner car used in drag racing and road racing. The WRX/STi always seemed like that car to buy for the winter and use as a daily as you can just trash them through anything. I also think of S4 Avants for that purpose, but you may not want to deal with the reliability of the 2.7TT or the gas mileage of the V8's.

thanks for the reply, I am willing to have either of the two I just am having problems finding one with low miles in my price range so was looking for different options.

There's a '04 WRX in Silver with 70,000 miles for 12,900. It seems that the cheaper, low mileage ones are always automatic, which is odd. :S
The 04-05's with around 75k go for 12-14k. Finding one near your area is what's always a pain in the ass. Will this be your only car is it strictly a DD/Winter?

As a former WRX and STi owner I can tell you that there is no reason to be scared of buying a car with 100k+ miles, just be sure that the timing belt is checked or replaced by 120k or so.

How about a Saab?

Sure if you want to have a hell of a time finding parts. Several of my coworkers used to drive them but one was in an accident and took months to get back due to parts.
What about a forester? Or a used legacy? If you are going from an S2k to any of these even the evo or WRX is not going to feel the same.

Here's a cool picture of my friend's Saab 9000 on the way to Montreal. As solid feeling as any car I have ever been it. Quite impressive, could drive like this all day long...
