New Alfa Romeo Spider / next gen Mazda MX5

Alfa not offering a manual is another bad management choice (of many bad management decisions over the last 10-15 years)for a car like this. Alfa Spyder is not meant to be a race car of pinnacle of technology. The power is not so great and the buyer is going to want a manual for "toy" car. No one can beat Alfa when it comes to design, but WTF?
I can see not offering one on the 4C... Please Sergio, let's start using some common sense.

If the new Miata looks like that rendering... wow. And if it really comes in at 2200 lbs with 170+ horsepower... double wow. Amd if its turbo... game over. Buying one, tuning it on E85, and taking it to 200-250 whp. Who needs an Elise/Exige if the new Miata offers all that at under 30k?

that being said, they both look epic.

I would be really surprised if the car weighs under 2500lbs when launched but I hope it does. The smiley face era is over and the new Mazda 3, 6, and CX-5 all look great. If the MX-5 follows those designs with the rumored specs, it should be a huge success.

I agree, Mazda is really stepping up their game in the looks department. The CX-5 looks awesome, the new Mazda 6 looks even more awesome, probably the best looking sedan out right now IMO and the new Mazda 3's look great too. I still feel like 170hp isn't enough, even in 2200lbs. How difficult is it to get a 200hp engine in it? They can do a 2-2.4L engine to make that and keep it N/A or do what everyone else is doing and have a small 1.6 turbo producing 200hp with similar torque. But I think N/A would be funner in such a small car. For around 25-30k you can get a lot of cars like the BRZ, 2014 GTI, WRX, etc. Why choose the 170hp 2 seater. It needs more for it's money. They also need to get better gas mileage out of it. It's current engine gets what 20 and 27? Even the old 1.6 and 1.8's were never able to get good MPG in such a light platform.

And why the hell would anyone want a junky GTI or BRZ that only makes a bit more power? A 2200 lb 170 hp Miata is going to be MUCH more entertaining and FASTER than a 200 hp 2700 lb BRZ. Think about it. ESPECIALLY if it's turbo.
If a BRZ gets 35 MPG on the highway, a 2200 lb ND Miata would get close to 40, handle better, and be faster. So what if it doesn't have two useless seats like the BRZ? And you think an NA BRZ is going to get much faster? Not to mention if you boost a BRZ, the handling goes to crap.
