New Corvette makes Supra and others a dud.

Will be a game changer for GM and should be bring some new owners into the Corvette fold.

Imagine if Porsche made the 911 an FR car like it tried to do with the 928, which was originally intended to replace the 911 as the new flagship model back in the 80's.
As for the original statement, I disagree. Numbers only tell part of the story. Theoretically, the Cayman and its upper scale GTS and GT4 variants should be unable to compete with the Corvette too and should also be duds if we applied the same lens for analysis and comparison.

While everyone else is marketing exotic, complex, expensive engines Chevy keep plodding along with antique push rod. And making gobs of power. The LS engine is key to keeping the price down I expect.

the spy shots look much like the NSX in terms of outward styling.
I think hardcore Corvette fans will like the engine choices, if it ever went completely turbo low displacement the fan base would fade fast.
Looks like the Corvette is the only car Mary Bara won't kill.

It works and continues to work And like you said, keeps development costs down.

If comparing the Supra vs Corvette then yeah Corvette all day long. The GT350 is another really tempting example as well. I am 100% with you not understanding what Toyota is thinking these days. First the BRX/FRS with a subie engine but no turbo now a BMW with a Toyota body. I don't understand what happened to them as a company from all the stuff they used to make. Honda at the very least is still doing their own thing even though I agree the new NSX hasn't been the game changer the last one was (I am pretty sure sales haven't been great either but not something I have looked that closely at).

NSX engine block and heads were designed by Cosworth. The rest was designed by Honda. The decision to use the Cosworth components was based on a late change from a normally aspirated engine to a twin-turbo engine. In order to hit their original production deadline, they had to outsource some of the components. Cosworth's parts are race-proven and reliable.
Still, the NSX engine is supposedly $75K! They definitely didn't go the cheap route...
