Red face New FT-86 pics and info on production version

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=413

Here's some new FT-86 photos from inside a hangar. Also the rumors about its redesign are false. Finally, the production version might be showing in just 10 days at the Geneva show!

Yeah, right. No way Toyota puts anything like that into production. The interior will look nothing like that. The entire front and rear ends will look nothing like that.

Can someone explain to me why this car will be different than a Genesis? Has anything really been confirmed? If it starts at 20k it will likely have some engine with less than 200hp. High 20's and you're looking at Mustang GT money. I'm asking b/c it has generated a shit ton of interest. I'm guessing its the first small RWD Toyota in quite some time. I highly doubt it will come in less than 3000lb.

No reason the car couldn't come in closer to 2800 lb. Even at 3000, that's 300-400 lb. lighter than the Genesis coupe. Plus it looks a LOT more sporty and lower-slung, more like a S2000 2+2 coupe vs. the Genesis rehash of the Infiniti G35.

Hopefully power will be more like 220+, but even at 200hp I'll probably buy one if the weight is 2800 or less.

We shall see

Oh there is plenty of reason. Name me 3 cars that is a 2+2 that weighs less than 3000lb? The more power these cars have the more companies beef them up with weight to handle it. The closest I've seen to said specs is the RX-8. Nothing else.

So it's the styling of the concept that is the source of the awe. Got it. I dont see the S2000 in there anywhere.
