O ya.... my 05 chevy silverado.... the steering wheel was not even lined up in the center of the drivers seat.... it was made for the ghetto arm rest-lean.... :D

I don't think it will be Poor Tundra at all.

I'll have to wait to see the inside in person but those pictures don't look as nice as the F-150s I've been in. I'm talking purely about looks, not material quality or anything else - obviously, that can't be seen in pictures. The gauge cluster looks fine, though - a bit of brightwork there to add some color. I guess I can look in a Tahoe to see the GMC version of the truck interior - it's the Chev counterpart that will be "new", I guess.

Outside looks decent, though - they finally fixed the slant-eyed look of the current generation. Pretty muscular overall. I'd probably take it over a Ford for exterior looks.

I think the motors will be better - heck, their diesel is probably the best out there right now - but I'm still dubious about the inside. I just really, really like the F-150 interior (and this is a guy that usually can't stand Fords)...

One comment I find telling (and a bit disturbing) was this:

That, to me, is baloney. If they want to control the market, they want to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to both retain and recruit buyers. They may not have to "prove" anything but when you realize that probably 80%+ of the buyers are going on looks, interior materials, and "perceived" machismo, it's a big deal to have a "mean" or "muscular" truck. That's one reason I love the Titan (even if it isn't my first choice for a truck) - it looks mean and it looks different.

If it was otherwise, we wouldn't see trucks with 20" or bigger wheels with chrome and polished surfaces clogging our freeways and parking lots. These things are rarely about actual toughness and more often about perceived toughness. Looks help a lot in the latter....

Is GM ever going to come up with a new dash design for Chevrolets that doesn't involve "Large cheap plastic rectangle in front of driver?" I think essentially that same dashboard debuted in the 1995 Tahoe/C/K.

Besides, do 'Merican truck buyers really comparison shop, or do they just buy what their daddy and his daddy and their favorite NASCRAP driver's daddy bought?

I have never understood the American designer obsession with the need to have a squared dash. I mean, I understand the concept of bulkiness, etc... but frankly, it just doesn't look attractive at all. When I saw the first picture, I thought, finally, they are catching on... then I saw the second one...


BTW, I agree.. from the rumors... I highly doubt the Tundra has anything to worry about.

Well the Chevy dash is different if you don't like the one in the GMC.

My point was, they introduced this "must win" super-duper truck that is vital to GM's long term survival, and they put the same shitty ugly dash that was outdated in 1995 in it.

But I'm not, nor ever will I be, a potential Big-3 big pick-up customer, so what do I know?

What do you want, Stack? A sweeping dashboard that creates a cockpit for the driver? You're not considering the intended use for the trucks. Maximizing the interior space is critical for all the big, fat drivers and for added utility.

My family has been Chevy for a while (Vettes, trucks (including Duramax), and Caddy's). I plan on getting one in a year or two with the 6.0 or 6.2L motor, displacement on demand, hybrid powertrain, with six-speed automatic. That'll be a nice 380+hp truck that can get mid to upper 20's on the highway in 2WD configuration.

Works for me.
