I've read through this thread like 6 times and I can't find the punchline
F150 sales are down. GMT900 will face a similar problem. The full size imports are not going to fair much better.

Titan and the new Tundra still are much more appealing designs.

Oh, speaking of tow and haul ratings, the GMT900 trucks will be rated to tow 10,500 lbs and haul over 2,000lbs in the bed in half-ton configuration. Crushes both the Titan and F-150.

I don't really know why that matters anyway. Have you towed a 10,000 lb load lately? Do you even know anyone who's towed a 10,000 lb load? How about 6,000 lbs? Anyone?

That's okay, Ford and Nissan can just reprint their brochures and say their "rated" tow capacities are 10,600 lbs.

Much like many other things in life, having a higher capacity than you need is good for a LOT of reasons.
1. Safety margin. Running on the ragged edge all the time will break something sooner rather than later.
2. People are f'ing stupid in general and will stretch the ratings on a regular basis. Did you know the S2000 is only rated for 400lbs of additional weight? You, a passenger and your luggage for the weekend are probably WELL in excess of that restriction.
3. It is easier to perform a task at 60% of your capability than 98% of your capability.
If I am looking for a tow veichle get get my 3,400lb car + tires, tools, luggage, etc to and from the track, I would rather have a truck capable of 10,000 towing capacity than one that is only rated for 5,000lbs.
In direct answer to your question, no, I have not, nor do I know anyone that has towed 10,000lbs with a pickup truck.
Now, put into sports car terms. Who here has hit the top speed of their S2000 on a public street?

I've never owned a pickup, much less loaded anything beyond a lwanmower into one. But I have seen people using their pickup's capabilities rather extensively. A heavy duty pickup can do a lot more heavy lifting than it seems like it can.
