He rolled off the tread onto the sidewall. Doesn't seem like he knows how to manage tire pressure.

I wouldn't expect a car of this nature to see much movement in coolant temps at the track.

Beats me, if you read the whole thread it sounds like the guy is no stranger to road courses.

It would be nice, however, if he stopped referring to HPDEs as racing, lol.

That was my point exactly. I'd have done the same thing he did....but that doesn't mean the car wasn't still within its allowable operating temperature limit or that it was overheating. We'll see once someone starts to log the actual temps and/or asks Honda what's actually acceptable.

The owner's manual shows that the message "Stop Driving When Safe. Engine Temperature Too Hot" appears when then engine coolant temperature gets abnormally high.

He slowed down because he was worried, not because the car indicated he needed to slow down.

He really put a beating on those front tires, though! Wow! Gonna be tough to escape that kind of punishment at the track on a FWD car.

Shoot the messenger? I just clarified what he (over)stated.

Maybe he's driving the Civic like a rwd car, which is why the tires are so destroyed?

It could be anything, really. As others pointed out, maybe he has his tires at the wrong pressure. Or maybe he was overdriving the car. Or maybe it's just really hard on tires because of the lack of front camber (stock). Or maybe a combination of the above, plus a lot of heat. Tracking at 90F+ is pretty tough on tires!

Or maybe those front tires got worn out from braking, steering, and accelerating. But FWD is just as good as RWD so what am I saying.

Agreed...which is why I said, in my earlier comment, "He really put a beating on those front tires, though! Wow! Gonna be tough to escape that kind of punishment at the track on a FWD car."
