The new Honda Civic Type R (World Market version)

I honestly wonder about Road & Track's intentions with that comparison test. I admit I haven't read it yet (print copy is currently sitting on my coffee table), however seems rather dubious to me that they tested the base, stripped, 370Z. The "Heritage" edition is just a graphics package. As the comparison was track oriented why didn't they use the 370Z Sport model? Has upgraded brakes, lighter wheels and (most importantly) a limited slip differential. And it still costs less than the CTR. I'm by no means saying that would have given the edge to the 370Z. But it would have made the test more of an apples to apples comparison.

They say it was the only one in the Nissan Press Fleet,
and the only one they could get. I would have thought
the GolfR, Focus RS, STI and Civic would have been
a better comparison test anyway.

Ah thanks. Still lame, lol. Man Nissan just does not give a f*ck about their 370Z

Autoguide test, including track times (SPOILER ALERT)
1. Civic Type R - 1:22.45
2. Focus RS - 1:22.81
3. Subaru STi - 1:25.39
4. Golf R - 1:25.97
Interestingly enough, they seemed to rank them in that order in terms of which one was best. I can't imagine taking an STi over a Golf R (that one is the exact same colour as my co-worker's), given similar performance in the Golf without the boy-racer looks or ugly interior (and questionable exterior).

I love that the Honda is faster even with wrong wheel drive.

Awesome they're winning in these comparisons, seems like the press vehicles do real well. Any word on the overheating issues with customers cars though?
Also isn't it funny that the people who used to say it's not all about stop watch times are now relying on them to push a car that is generally not well received?
No one is surprised that a fwd car can deliver capable times, but like I also said before what happens when you also start modding, what then? What about lap after lap? Also note in all my posts I never once mentioned it'll probably slower in a media situation, the proof will be in the real world with all sorts of drivers in all sorts of environments.
