Heck if it were FWD with the Type-R engine in the low 30s I'd consider it. Wishful thinking.

^Yeah I'd settle for that or the 2.0T from the Accord sedan.

IF Honda came back with an S2000 successor I say sell a hard top version with a tiny +2 rear seat (BRZ like or smaller) and call it Prelude. Boom, done.

Not a Prelude but "Never say never" about a new S2000. It just needs to wait for the right moment...

Tired of waiting. 26 years between NSX v1 and NSX v2, and more than 20 years between the S2000's debut and something else (pretty safe to assume we have no chance of seeing anything before 2020) is ridiculous. That's an entire generation. A sports car only makes sense for a lot of people during a pretty narrow portion of their lifetimes, meaning someone could only really be in the market for a new Honda sports car once in their lifetime.

I know it's not as profitable as another new crossover or whatever, but it sucks. Honda didn't even care that much about the original S2000's sales, and only planned to produce it for two years despite a bespoke chassis, engine, everything. It ended up selling really well with waiting lists and markups, and ended up being produced for 10 years. It clearly fared much better in the market than Honda had ever hoped, so why not "live a little" and join your peers in making a dedicated sports car? Soon Toyota will have TWO! Both done as joint ventures, but it's a lot better than 0 and they are both RWD with little shared with other cars.
