Fake vents seem to be the norm. I do prefer the look of the old Supra, but I think this new car will look great once the aftermarket gets their hands on it.

Those styling cues crosses it off the list for me on any car.

It's their bed they can lay in it, I'm sure their marketing geeks figured it could sell to enough customers to make it profitable. Making a profitable sports car these days is extremely difficult, likely the reason they teamed up with BMW, and as Sam said if you don't like it don't buy it.

You know it's very possible that those fake vents could be opened up in a later sorry version, ala c7 with the z51 pack. Additionally I'm sure z owners with they had options for venting in the front bumpers for their brakes.
If people have a beef with that, then where does it end? Two tailpipes on 4 cylinder cars? Less we forget the mkiv supra came with a huge spoiler which I'm sure people will chime in is functional, is it really?

Styling is just that, styling.

I don't understand. My C7 with Z51 has no fake, vent scoops, but neither does any of the non Z51s.

That's fair. But as far as general car discussions go I can understand the temptation to bag on this car even though I have no interest in owning one.

That's where things get a bit tricky. Toyota surely didn't mind all of the hype this car received in advance, but they didn't exactly make this car on their own and naming it a Supra now seems a bit cheesy. I have no idea how many buyers Toyota will find for this car going forward. I think it's a shame that they couldn't have come up with a Supra of their own making. In that case I would have liked to be able to compare the resulting Toyota Supra with the BMW/Toyota collaboration car.

But obviously this specific collaboration illustrates that the current automotive world is a rapidly changing one and with that in mind I think I get your point(s).

At the end of the day, the new Supra is a heavy GT, and that's been the case since the 1980s. Yeah, it's sporty, and it will be quick enough, but it's not a badge queen like a BMW is and I think that will impact sales. People won't wear the Supra like Z4 jewelry in their driveway.

Can't wait for the 2046 Supra with 350hp and a CVT. I'm just saying, we waited 26 years and got 15hp and a less fun transmission, so just extrapolating that forward. As much crap as the NSX gets, at least they more than doubled the power!

Pretty sure the C7 vents aren't "fake"... too bad those vents are the reason why the C7 is a hideous child's drawing.
