Going lighter is expensive and Nissan needs to keep the price down or they won't be able to capture the "cradle to grave" consumer. Tough competition with Kia, Toyota, and Hyundai.

Wow, I had no idea. I always just thought the G37 and the 370z were the same size.

Agreed. Platform sharing is clearly the norm, but that doesn't mean that it has to share the whole platform. Hell, the Honda Civic and CR-V are built in the same platform, and they have wildly different dimensions.

Keep this new Z dimensionally small and 3,4000ish lbs. should be plenty doable. If they make a 3,400 lbs. or thereabout Z car with a twin turbo 6 cylinder making 400+ horsepower and it doesn't cost $50,000, I'll be the first one in line to buy one.

I would prefer if they would make it look less frog-like and more like a long-nosed coupe.

it would essentially be a corvette. I'd be interested in it but the car would need a special engine, something that oozes character or ridiculously robust.

Overall size - that could just be bumper moldings though. What are the actual dimensions of the wheelbase, interior etc? I had to go check and sure enough, the G37 coupe's wheelbase is 10" longer! The Z is also 2" wider.. Interesting to find out.

You don't want a 350z with Corvette-comparable performance?

A corvette with a twin turbo v6 engine, that sounds like a massive win to me

Yes I would, but like I said the engine would need to be some kind of special. A v6 tt odds a great start.
I always had a soft spot for Zs.

To each his own but I'd take an NA V8 over a TT V6 a thousand times over.
