I don't know what it is but I really like this. I'd probably buy one and complain about the ride and sparse interior compared to a luxury suv but this looks pretty cool. Somebody talk me out of the idea.

They're cool vehicles - no denying that - but they're still pretty rugged, rough vehicles. If you approach them from a "fun" perspective, they are definitely that. Drive slow, take off the doors, let in the sun, relax while putting around in suburbia. Look cool (unless you're bald and fat) and enjoy the weather.

Highway driving or higher speeds aren't nearly as good an experience. An ex-coworker had one and loved it for what it was but did regret the purchase over more practical, polished vehicles that also towed his boat far easier.

The big V6 is standard now and it moves it with a lot more authority than the older ones.

We (my wife) had a '13 Wrangler Unlimited and loved it. We took it from MI to CO, WY, UT all over the place camping and towing a little camper. We got rid of it for a truck since we bought a bigger camper. Lots of good times in the Jeep, great vehicle.

If room ever permitted I'd get another one.

That is my big worry. A friend had one of the first Wrangler Unlimiteds and we went to lunch in it on a 15 degree day. It rode like a freight train on bumpy tracks and everything squeaked and rattled.

But in my view of a good three car stable, this would get duty for bad weather, some sunny top off commuting, and utility hauling as a third car. Although I probably would never be able to justify it as what they cost as not a daily driver. Maybe a used one in a couple years, but they don't seem to depreciate much at all on the used market.

It reminds me of the time in college when we had a 35 inch snowfall in one night and my friend came over in a very unrefined Datsun 4x4 and we went out to drive around and try to get stuck. It was like offroading on city streets. Never did get stuck and had a ton of fun in the unstoppable little beast. Kinda makes me what an unstoppable beast. The perfect zombie apocalypse vehicle.

Love those things and the new one is looking good. The way to enjoy them though is to get in the mindset that this is a rough vehicle not a Lexus, so it's gonna be loud, uncomfortable, squeak and rattle, but it's part of the charm of it. If you're wearing anything made of wool, this is not the right vehicle. I drove one around the big island, did some off roading to get to the green and black sand beaches, and just putted around town and honestly it was one of the most fun on wheels I've had. I would seriously love to own a jeep one day as my don't give a crap vehicle. I'd have to go four door for more utility though.
