Default OMG Sister broke off the wiper stalk on the Saab..

She's mortified about being so careless, but she was dring along and passing some store that she wanted to pace to see how far it would be from home. So, while passing the store, in mid corner, she reaches into the dash through the steering wheel, and starts to push the odometer reset. The corner finishes quickly, and she unwinds the wheel but her hand is caught in there between the wiper stalk and hte wheel spoke.
She said she started to run wide, in heavy fast multi-lane traffic, but just cranked on the wheel harder and harder.....she was in pain but continued until the wiper stalk broke.
She knows she screwed up, and is really embarrased. She's in her 50's, never had an accident. I don't even think she's ever had a ticket. I just laughed at her so hard when she was telling me this.....she was laughing about it too now.

Damn SAAB. If it was a Honda...the stalk would'nt have broken...trapping her arm and sending the car into a death roll ultimately colliding with a school bus of children...massive explosion...tens of people dead...and all because of a well made part.

See...build quality can be overrated.

Seriously, glad your sister is ok.

i did sort of the same thing when I first got the S. I for some reason reached through my steering wheel while making a 90 degree turn off a driveway. Luckily, nothing happened except I bruised my arm a tiny bit and then felt like a total idiot. No one else knew, well until now.

Brain farts happen.

Heheh! I almost did that once. Then I realized that I would've trapped my arm if I turned the wheel. Now I reach around.

I would think it to be extremely dangerous to reach through the steering wheel rather then around. tsk tsk
