definitely , I agree. I'd pretty much go with any Porsche over the S2000, but cost is always a factor and fun per dollar keeps the S2000 competitive.

Ive driven garden variety modern 911s, Caymans and Boxster though no GT4 or GT3s or air cooled. I find the S2000 the more fun car though ymmv.

even trade:)

Thank being said, I drove a 97 911 4s for several hours, and a 2011 911 for a few hours. I also drove an earlier Boxster and found it to be far more engaging than the 911's. I like them all, but I much prefer the s2000 insanity.

It cost around a million bucks if i'm not mistaken. I might make the exception here myself. But I wouldn't do it to keep the Porsche.

I had a 1980 911 SC Targa for several years. I would describe it as “agricultural” in a very endearing way. You felt very connected to it at all times.

To to give you an idea of how long ago that was, I purchased it for $13,500 and sold it for $11,500 three years later.

I was shopping for an S2K for about a year.... Just picked up a 987.2 manual Boxster S. The S2K is incredible and I also wanted something to tinker with. You guys are lucky with the cost of parts, hell a spoon crate engine is only 10K! Unfortunately the S2K prices have gotten to where a clean one is too much IMO. Oddly enough I saw a video of a first gen S2K vs a 986 boxtster and the Porsche was 2x the MSRP. Now the S2K is worth way more; sure there are some pretty obvious reasons for this but it's also a testament to how great the S2K is.

I'm not sure I am understanding the price of a singer modified Porsche. As much as I am wowed by it, if it is in the range of $500,000 to 1 million then I'd rather sink money into a different supercar and save a boat load of money. It is great, but not that much great, and less than 400 hp. If one has a bottomless wallet or a substantial car collection where money is not an object than it would be great to have one of these. If I could only have one super car or vintage car then I would pass on this.

2010+ porsche 911 turbo pdk or
2002+ porsche GT2

in 2 years ill be replacing my S with one of those two... even though the S is probably faster, a 911 turbo has always been a dream car of mine and being in a position to where I can afford one, I need to take this opportunity while i can no matter how much i will miss my s2000

Not sure why but I've never liked open-top 911s, something about them looks...wrong.

I'm very much a fan of Singer's work though.
