These cars are not good sellers to begin with. So if just 1 is stolen, it screws up the averages.

Civics, Accords, and Camrys are usually the most stolen. But it hardly makes a change in statistics for each one additional stolen.

This is another example of Journalism 101. Create a story from bad statistical data points, so to make the story different, and stand out from the regular noise.

The number are also based on Claims and not police reports, which would change the statistics a bit.

It was funny when I clicked the link actually. I was just curious to see which cars were and was kind of surprised to see the s2000 on the list. Most of them probably occur in Miami Damn dirty seat jackers!

...and AP1 front and rear bumper and AP1 softtop w/ plastic rear window...

So is our OEM immobilizer just for show or were these flat-bedded, car-jacked, or what?

Whats wrong with the data? It seems pretty clear. If you had your S2000 parked next to a camry, a thief would be more likely to steal your car according to the data. The article could be misleading if you were expecting to find out what the most stolen car is in terms of volume, but the way they presented it is more useful.

Just look at the list.

Besides the s2k, would you really steal all those Hummer versions?

If someone really wants to steal our s2k, they have to drive around decently hard to find one. While Camry/Accord/Civic are everywhere, so they just need to walk outside and steal one to fix their customer's car. So most thiefs would not do so much work to steal a car. After all, our s2k is not a "Gone in 60 seconds" car.

Overall, we all know our seats and lights are high thef items. So most of us have garages for our babies. Unfortunely, it is the street parking s2k that are main victims of seats and lights thef... which makes the status bad for us.

Oh. Don't foget the S2k hardtop thefs. Those seem to be very common in SF.
