Working on the rod bearings now. Preventative maintenance was neglected on this car so it had to be done.

Those bearings were ready too throw a party. I'm looking into buying a E46 M3 right now. Loved the card since I was in High School. I'm sure yours is going to be top notch one all that preventative maintenance is completed.

That's a lot of work. Will you get much of this back in resale?

Check out Manual E46 M3 Coupe values. They have held steady and good examples are still fetching $15k+

Be careful, subframe reinforcement plates ARE NOT a fix, they are a bandaid. It will continue cracking. You ALSO want to watch your rear trailing arm pockets for any hint of movement or cracking in the seam sealer, this would indicate the spot welds have come apart and the pocket will tear from the chassis.

You really need to do something like the Vince bar if you intend to keep the car for a long time. A good visualization to describe the RACP is to stick a pen through a empty soda can and move it forward and backwards.

Anyhow, just my experience. I've had a 'few' E46es.

Subframe cracks after the rear end has been dropped. I was very concerned but my mechanic said this was actually minor... Only 2 sites where cracking has occured. The other 2 are crack free but the reinforcement plates are going in for preventative measures.

The BMW Shop that is doing the repair has extensive knowledge in this department. Apparently this is "Minor" compared to other E46 M3's they've done.

Broken differential bushing.

More broken parts...

New Clutch, Pressure plate and flywheel.

No lie this has been a ton of work but im glad to do it now vs. worrying about it later. So far so good.

With the money I saved in the initial purchase of the car I applied towards repairs and upgrades to make it even better.
