Default Picked up a new daily

Picked up a 2014 BMW 328D M Sport in Estoril Blue for daily driver duties. It replaces our 2009 BMW 328i Coupe. Decided to go with the diesel as it gets great MPG (32 city / 45 highway) and is still very responsive around town, thanks to the 280 ft/lbs of torque available at 1750 RPM. Several folks have even talked about getting 60 MPG on road trips, so looking forward to filling up less often.

Nice car. I picked up a 328i last year. I don't have the diesel but my mileage has been pretty impressive for the performance of the car too. I hope you enjoy it. So far I have 7,000 on it and have not had a single issue.

I put a first coat of Zaino Bros polish on it (Melbourne Red) and it looks spectacular. If that stuff does half as much for Estoril Blue as it does for my red, you would be very pleased with trying it out.

Did you get a stick or the 8 speed?

Many good miles to you.

Pretty car - great engine choice. I've always lusted after a 335d as a daily driver - it's just not a high priority for me compared to getting another sports car.

Good luck with it - keep us updated on mileage and reliability.

The diesel cars only come with the 8 speed, its butter smooth. I used to use Zaino on my previous S2000 and Mustang, will look into it.

Will do, felt it was a good compromise for a daily. Great handling chasis (though I prefer the steering feel of the e9x), wonderful amenities, and amazing looks.

That COLOR! OMG, I would not mind picking up a 328d wagon in that color but the price is killing me. 50k because it only comes in xdrive and the estoril blue requires the "M sport line"

The more I see these F30s the more I think the E90 was super ugly. There is an elegance to these that was missing with the previous generation.

Yeah I totally love the Estoril Blue, and pictures don't do it justice. It has to be seen in person, what an amazing color. I love its uniqueness (only available on M Sport vehicles) and its homage to the ///M cars. I was never a fan of the E90, I thought the E92 was very nice, but something about the proportions of the E90 didn't work for me.

What's 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc... for that?? Never been in a fast diesel. What's the low end torque like? Does is use the gears in transmission as the gasoline model?

0-60 is 7.2 and the 1/4 mile is somewhere in the upper 15 second range. Its not super quick, but much more enjoyable than a Prius while still getting similar gas mileage. The transmission is the same as found on the gasoline models, but its been optimized for the torquey/low end nature of the diesel engine.

I mean for around town that has to be ideal. Instant tq should make it quick off the line and up to "normal" spreads - I.e. the reason I am always beat by almost everything off a red light in normal driving. Tq is nice.
