With the Golf getting larger and larger, I actually really wonder how much fun this little guy would be. I like the comment about how it's the same size roughly as the original Golf. It's cool that VW is not only bringing over a micro-hatch, but they're willing to give it some balls. 177hp in something that size is pretty nice. New autocross track star?

I can't see this coming over to the states. VW would have a tough time selling it with it's price-point here. Interestingly enough, Automobile Magazine reports that the new Jetta and the Passat replacement, the NMS which will be built in Tennessee, will forego the current sophisticated multilink rear suspension in the current models in lieu of returning to a torsen beam rear suspension apparently in an attempt to be competitive from a price standpoint.
I have two VWs, and VW would face the same obstacle to selling this Polo GTi here as it does with it's other cars. It has to charge near premium prices for a non-premium brand. That's precisely why it's de-contenting the replacement for its B and C segment sedans here in the states.

This doesn't appeal to me. I love the VW Golf/Rabbit all the way from Mk1 to Mk6. Sure they have grown up over the years, but ever year there getting better. The only thing this has on the current GTi is the fuel efficiency.
Golf GTi > Polo GTi

VW is still undecided as to whether or not the polo will make it over to the states, if it does, it looks as though its gonna get a variant of the twin charged engine, around 1.6 liters. no power output has been claimed. This would be an entry level vehicle in the $12,000-$20,000 range so dont expect this thing to be a rocketship will all the amenities if it comes over to us!

I really like how VW puts a car together (looks, materials, stance) but I just can't bring myself to trust them. Virtually everyone I know that has had one has had issues within the first three years.
