4:46 BTG time, which is more what you hear in relation to times floating around from the general public that does TF days there.

Stupid, stupid fast

WOW! Absolutely nuts. as in a huge pair for Timo. I'd love to ride passenger and puke and pass out... haha

On another note, I'd really like to see the VW I.D.R. take a shot at the ring. it definitely has the juice to run a full lap - 7:57 for pike's peak (new world record as well).

What I want to know is how the driver manages to get in and out of the car with balls that big

Love the sensation of crazy speeds in the video; how absurdly fast the car and driver navigate the turns is so damn awesome

Oh and on the long straight where the driver just had the car bouncing off the rev limiter with his helmet bouncing up and down at the bottom right corner of the video gave me a laugh, just insane

Yeah looks like they can shave a bunch of time with taller gearing for that straight.

They hit 369 kph (229 mph) on the main straight. I'd trust Porsche to run the times and simulate the run to determine what gearing is best. Gaining a few mph on the main straight is not nearly as big a deal as getting a few tenths on EVERY corner due to shorter gearing that allows maximum acceleration.

I still can't get over how much speed they were carrying through corners. Mind-boggling!

This would be so, so, so much cooler if the car actually followed a single rule book. Instead it just...doesn't really matter.

What if the car was fully automated and a computer was able to learn the course for a couple of weeks?

Current technology from what we have seen cannot replace a race car driver.
