What made you get the Z?
Neither of us is a fan of PDK / paddle shifting so we had to schedule the only manual transmisson car they have.
What made you get the Z? It's funny cuz I've been looking at them and jeeps lately.

Quickag, your car sounds AWESOME. I am not a huge fan of autos, even dual clutch variety, but you can really tell how the PDK keeps the car in the powerband in your video.

Is the PDK shifting up/down itself with no paddle input at all?

thanks all! Yes, using the paddles or manual inputs is a waste of time on track. The transmission is that good.

My track impressions:

718 Cayman GTS
Felt small and light
Torque rich delivery
Sounded like a modded WRX with flat-four bark, turbo whistling and exhaust pops

991.2 GTS
Didn’t feel obviously turbocharged
Sounds great
PDK shifts very quick in Sport Plus mode
Confidence inspiring handling

991.2 Turbo S
Incredible acceleration
Felt noticeably bigger and heavier than 991.2 GTS
More turbo lag than GTS
Didn’t sound great
Easy to drive, even at good track pace

991.2 GT3 RS
Engine sounded amazing
The most intimidating to drive on track
Very responsive front end
Tail was a bit mobile
Definitely the most exciting of the bunch

The biggest surprise of the day for me was the 991.2 GTS. I loved it! It was very well behaved, but also plenty fast.

Agree with your assessments above. I really think the 991.2 GTS is probably the best "overall" 911 currently made. Great torque for around town, more comfy than the GT cars, very nearly as quick, very smooth 3.0 turbo flat six. I still have fond memories of the time my dealer loaned me a 2017 911 Carrera S PDK for a day. I put 100 miles on it and it was a very fun car to drive. A little turbo whistle, good shove at almost any rpm, very smooth and nice sounds. I can only imagine the GTS is that much better.

If I had an extra garage space and $140k laying around to blow on another car, I'd pick up a .2 GTS as a daily driver and enjoy the heck out of it.

I’m planning to go back and do the two-day Masters course. I might wait until the 992 S joins the fleet. Very curious to see how the new 911 stacks up with the 991.2 GTS.

I think that's a good idea, maybe even hold off for the 992 GT3 and/or Turbo models. I'm guessing some hybrid tech is going to flow in sooner rather than later. I haven't really read any substantive reviews yet on the 992 on how it compares to the 991.2. Haven't really looked either, I suppose, since I'm not in the market. I did get my name on the list for the 992 RS, but I still have at least a year or two before that comes out. I'm skipping the "regular" GT3 this time around and just waiting for the RS.

Having missed the 991.2 GT3, I did think about going for the 992 GT3. But I love my 997.2 GT3 too much and can’t afford both. My choice is to upgrade rather than replace. A 4.2 build is starting in May. I can’t wait! It will be a beast for sure.
