Z's have the worst brake pads ever put on any sports car. I wore down a set on a rental 350Z with less than 3000 miles to the bare metal (which also chewed up the rotors) in about 15 minutes of track time. I wondered if there was something wrong with the car or my driving but the other 350Z racers told me they've also had factory pads completely disintegrate just as fast.

interesting story, but in the end they basically did what most people who regularly track their cars do.

I agree there is some common sense required on the owners part, but then again one can certainly point a finger in Nissan's direction, who puts 14" rotors on a car and then equips them with brake pads made of stone?

True, but the NISMO is supposed to be a "track tuned" version, so you would think it would have appropriate pads at least, I mean thats a basic need. In the end, the brakes still sucked, though they were at least safer and predictable.
I tracked my Cayman S and my MX-5 w/ bone stock brakes (right down to the fluid) w/ no issues. The S2000's stock brakes needed help, but nowhere near as bad as the Z.
