Road & Track: World Superpowers

The F430 is the acknowledged king but the Gallardo was very grippy, very fast, with great brakes and had a great lap time as well. The Z06 results were a bit more surprising, since it wasn't quite as fast on the track as I expected (about two seconds slower).
Niggles seemed to focus on at-the-limit handling and ease of driveability (compared to the Viper, even). Still, very quick overall and second fastest, next to the Ford GT (for a whole lot less money).
Specs for the track/testing portion here - http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/downloa...powersTrack.pdf .
Top vehicles for the following are (best to worst):
0-100-0 - GT, F430, Gallardo, Z06, 997TT, SRT10
Track Time - F430, Gallardo, Z06, SRT10, GT, 997TT
Top Speed - GT, Z06, F430, SRT10, 997TT, Gallardo
0-60 - F430/GT (tie), Gallardo/997TT (tie), Z06, SRT10
0-100 - GT, F430, Z06, Gallardo, SRT10, 997TT
1/4 mile - GT, F430, Z06, SRT10/Gallardo/997TT (tie for time, put in order of highest trap speed)
Slalom - Gallardo, SRT10, Z06, F430, 997TT, GT
Skidpad - Gallardo (1.03g!!!), F430, SRT10, Z06/997TT (tie), GT
60-0 - 997TT, Gallardo, SRT10, GT, Z06, F430
80-0 - 997TT, Gallardo, F430, SRT10, GT, Z06
Personally, the Gallardo was the most impressive to me. It's more readily available than the F430, can be had at a discount, and was very high in just about everything. Would I take it over an F430? Never, as long as money was no issue, but that's a pretty great car for the price (and availability).
Interesting how they really liked the Viper, for all of its rawness. Apparently very easy to drive - lots of grip and power and stability.
Thoughts and comments welcome.

Having driven a Z06 and ridden in a Gallardo for a 30 minute track session, they are both stupendous cars. For the $50k discount (real world dollars), I'd probably take the Gallardo over the F430.
Of course, in the real world, I'd just take the Z06, put a few grand into it and smoke everything.

If money were no object, F430 all the way. It just makes my pants feel tighter in front.
To paraprhase "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. Its so choice."
But I would agree with your impressions on the Gallardo. While the Z06 if the absolute performance bargain, there is just something about the exclusivity of an Italian car.
End of day dream.

Of course, you could also argue that if you had $150k for the Gallardo, you probably have $200k for the F430 and the F car will hold it's value better.
