There are so many moronic statements in that thread I don't know where to start.

To me the RX-8 is a hodge podge of everyting in one car. It's an attempt to put a luxury car, sedan, and sports car together. But, I think they failed. When I drove it , I didn't get the feeling it was a sports car, it wasn't luxury, and it was barely practical. The 2 rear seats are good for short trips but I wouldn't want to be stuck there on a long roadtrip.

The engine feels like an electric sewing machine, you're always waiting for the power to come on but it never does. On the handling side, it understeers horribly, and you never get the feeling you can chuck it around unless by chuck you mean plowing straight through a turn. To top it off it looks like an alien spaceship.

It's a totally underwhelming car. Mazda can do better, I want to see the real sequel to the RX-7.
that is exactly how i felt when driving it. im surprised how popular they are.

That turbodiesel guy just can't get enough of the RX-8's yaw movement or some crap.

Do you have any knowledge of math or physics? I don't think you do, because you still think a longitudinally placed 4 banger has a lower yaw moment than a rotary carbon-fiber drive shaft combo. You wont find anyone else needing to see technical papers on this issue because it is a no brainer, but I guess you don't have any. Because of this you got discredited and looked stupid doing it.
He mentions that at least 10 times in his arguments against the S2k.

I think "turbodiesel" is steve c. Same "pick and choose" argument style and personal attacks.

But I don't think even SteveC would spend that much time defending something so stupid so voraciously.

Maybe he would though....

Turbodiesel is what is wrong with internet car forums.

That guy might have an argument that points as a positive towards the RX8.. but he ignores the 1 billion other negatives when compared to the s2k... such as the fact the engine weights a ton.

The RX8 is much smoother and more comfortable with 75% of the acceleration and handling and better braking. I think driving the S is more fun on short drives but the 8 is a better compromise as an only car.

I have the feeling that every time I pull up next to a RX8 or 350Z, that the guys driving those cars wish they were driving mine.
Of coarse they could have the same feeling about me i.e- They think I wish I were driving theirs....I doubt it though.

Ah let's be honest - it's more like 85% of the acceleration and handling. It's a very competent vehicle that is a whole lot more comfortable and livable than the S2000.

It really does need another 25hp at least, but as a DD I seriously considered it until the gas mileage issue came out.

But then again, if we chose to buy an S2000, then obviously we're the small demographic where that 15% is more important to us than livability. No RX-8 has kept up with me through the mountains or on the track - but neither does it embarrass itself.
